Goffin Cockatoo
Goffin Cockatoo is
one of the most popular and in-demand specie of parrots for its
impressive beauty and intelligence. But what some fancy about
them is their inexhaustible energy and sense for
entertainment.
Truly, caring for Goffin Cockatoos (Cacatua
Goffini), which hails from Indonesia and is considerably the
smallest of its kind, is not very easy but once you know the
tricks, you will learn to enjoy their company. This is because
they can be aggressive one moment and gentle the next.
Biting and screaming are bad behaviors that
can be irritating but this is only because they are afraid or
neglected. Goffin Cockatoo are quite sensitive when it comes to
receiving attention. At least six hours a day should be
allotted to bonding with your Goffin pet to keep them from
screeching and hurting themselves.
However, Goffin
Cockatoo are consistently playful and active. Their
intellect allows them to learn basic to advance tricks
aside from their innate dancing ability. Often, Goffin
Cockatoos are seen hopping or doing acrobatic
movements.
Diet is not a problem for Goffin Cockatoo.
Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and pellets can be fed to them
with a bowl of water always ready on the side.
With regard to reproduction, Goffin Cockatoo
breed like other parrots.. They build nests near water, hatch
at least two eggs and incubate them for 25 days or more. Young
Goffin Cockatoos stay with their parents for another three
months until they are strong enough.
When caring for Goffin Cockatoo, make sure
that you provide a comfortable environment for your pet. Leave
toys or put parrot perch inside the Cockatoo’s house so it has
something else to do when you are not around. If possible,
design the cage with leaves and anything the feels close to
nature.
