If you have never had a pet ferret you are missing a lot of fun. Just like having any other pet, a ferret is a lot of work and maybe requires more attention than the average pet. Ferrets are very hyper and love to play, almost as much as a kitten does.

When you get a ferret you will want to get a number of supplies along with the ferret. You will need a cage, a little box, litter, toys and especially food.  A ferret has scent glands which make them have a musty stinky smell. Many people do not realize that ferrets need this because they release the smell to moisturize their skin.

If you are looking to own any kind of pet, I would recommend you having a lot of time on your hands before you decide on a ferret. Not only do they like to use the bathroom a whole lot, but they also love to eat. Not only do they love to eat food, they love to sink their teeth into anything rubber.

Before you decide to get a pet ferret or any kind of animal, you should take into consideration the time and money that will have to go into this pet. If you plan on getting a job in the near future and it requires you to be gone for a long amount of time, you will want to make sure you do not get an animal unless you have someone that is going to stay home with the pet and keep it company.

Unlike skunks, ferrets will release the scent they have in their glands because it moisturizes their skin. This isn’t always a pleasant smell, but this is why you can give them a bath, at least once a week is recommended.

Ferrets, sometime incorrectly spelled “ferrrets,” can run a number of different prices. Depending on where you buy them from, you might be able to find them for as little as fifty dollars or as much as two hundred. No matter where you get them from, always make sure you are ready for a commitment to an animal that deserves your attention and care.
